Working Together to Make a Difference

September 25th, 2015

Dear Disciples of Jesus at American Lutheran,

The burdens of daily life can get heavy-especially when we try to bear them alone. Likewise the work of the church can get feel like a burden if left only to some people. Thank goodness the Holy Spirit is poured out generously on everyone within the community of faith-and even on those outside the community of faith-in order to accomplish God’s purposes. When the Spirit is shared among us, we can work together, as one, to bear God’s healing, hope and compassion to the world.

See you in church,

Pastor Gretchen

Holy Trinity Sunday

May 29th, 2015

Dear Disciples of Jesus at American Lutheran,

On Holy Trinity Sunday we affirm our belief in God as three persons— Father, Son and Holy Spirit. But the Trinity doesn’t so much tell us who God is, but what God does.

God loves the world, drawing us into loving relationship, so that we might be co-creators in God’s healing work of compassion and justice.

Join us as we also celebrate our high school graduates in worship this Sunday, and as we discern the Spirit’s leading at the congregational meeting following worship.

See you in church,

Pastor Gretchen

Festival of Pentecost

May 22nd, 2015

Dear Disciples of Jesus at American Lutheran,

This Sunday, May 24th, we observe the Festival of Pentecost when God sent the Holy Spirit to empower the ministry of Jesus to continue through his followers.

Pentecost is both a day and a season, extending from The Day of Pentecost until Advent. It is a time for claiming the power of the Holy Spirit for our daily living to help us grow in faith, courage and love.

Wear red to worship as we boldly witness to the Spirit alive and well in our midst!

See you in church,

Pastor Gretchen
