Keeping Lent

Lent is the 40-day period that began on Ash Wednesday Feb. 22nd and ends with the celebration of Easter on April 8th. Lent is a special time to grow in our faith through spiritual practices such as prayer; sacrificial giving; fasting and the renewal of baptismal vows and recommitment to the Christian life.

Midweek worship is held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm using the “Holden Evening Prayer” liturgy. Each week a member of ALC will share a piece of their faith story with the community as part of our “Faith Out Loud” series. There will be refreshments and time for socializing in the nursery/lounge area following worship. A sign-up sheet is available if you’re able to host this fellowship time.

Lenten devotionals are available for $1 each for your personal use at home. “Christ our Hope” is a booklet of daily reflections by the late Henri Nouwen, one of the most widely read spiritual writers of our time.

Holy Week and Easter

Holy Week is the high point of the church year for Christians around the world. Plan now to take time with your community of faith to center your life again in the salvation story of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Palm/Passion Sunday April 1st 9:30am

Holy Week begins with the triumphal shouts of “Hosanna to the Son of David” as we remember Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem. Our worship begins on the patio outside as we hear Mark’s account of the story and then process inside the church with palm fronds. The mood of the service then changes as we hear the Passion Gospel and the shouts of “Hosanna” are transformed to shouts of “Crucify!”

“Godspell” performance 11:00am

Following worship and a brief time of fellowship, everyone is invited to stay for a concert with our choir performing selections from the musical “Godspell.” This will be a fundraiser for our Music Ministry and a time to socialize with a potluck afterwards.
